Huzzah! The ladies can pull the lever now, but it wasn’t so long ago things were a little different. Join us for an evening reimagining “polite conversation” in 1920, the year of the famous vote for woman suffrage when Tennessee changed the course of history. Guests will gather at the beautifully restored 1915 Neoclassical home of Lauren and Steven Rider in Old North Knoxville. At that time, Old North was young, the neighbors owned or managed textile mills, foundries, and the railroads. They often gathered to discuss current events of the day. Each guest will assume a character and a position on the subject of suffrage. Find out if you’ll be wearing a red or yellow rose! A meal of heavy hors d’oeuvres, signature cocktails, and wine under the oak in the side yard will make for some spirited conversation.
