The YMCA has diligently cared for its Barber & McMurry designed “Italian palazzo” for almost 80 years. This landmark building stands on the downtown property of the prominent McGhee family, commemorated in Knoxville institutions named for cousins McGhee Tyson and Lawson McGhee. The upper floors, which once served as single rooms for transient men, are now the site of Crown Court Condominiums. Visit the historic 1930 YMCA space for a musical treat before moving to the former “Boys Department” and courtyard for appetizers and dinner. Enjoy dessert and meet Crown Court residents while you tour several unique condominiums.
