From the Sacred to the Secret: A Park House Revival
Saturday, July 12, 2008,6:00 p.m.
40 guests, $100 per person
Downtown, 422 West Cumberland Avenue
Park House opens its doors on this mid-summer’s night to reveal its amazing revival. The house was built in 1812 by James Park, an Irish immigrant and merchant, who served as Knoxville’s mayor twice. His son the Rev. James Park, longtime minister of First Presbyterian Church, occupied the house until his death in 1912. The house has recently been lovingly restored by Pete and Linda Claussen. Following a reception at the Park House (with elegant appetizers and Parson’s champagne punch), guests will be taken to a secret location where jazz rules, pearls, fringe, and spectator shoes are the fashion, and, rumor has it, a password may be needed.
