Keynote Speaker: Dwight Young, National Trust for Historic Preservation
This year’s conference theme is "The Preservation Puzzle - Tailoring the Fit," which references Greeneville's most famous resident, Andrew Johnson, 17th President of the United States, and his early career as a tailor in Greeneville.  It builds upon the mission of the Tennessee Preservation Trust and its partner organizations, the Tennessee Historical Commission and the Tennessee Main Street Program.   Dwight Young, Senior Communications Associate at the National Trust for Historic Preservation, will be our keynote speaker.
Certified Local Government CAMP for CLG Certification
C.A.M.P. (Commission Assisted Mentoring Program) is an effective way for CLG historic commissions to maintain their annually required training.   C.A.M.P. is based upon the NAPC's four fundamental elements:  The legal framework of public preservation, identifying and protecting historic resources, commission role and responsibilities, and public support and outreach.  C.A.M.P. offers an opportunity for CLG commissioners and staff to receive training required to keep certification; others interested in historic preservation are also encouraged to attend as space allows.
Conference Overview
The Opening Plenary and Legislative Luncheon get the conference started on Thursday at the General Morgan Inn.  All C.A.M.P. sessions will be held across the street at the First Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall, and Friday's sessions will be held in the General Morgan Inn.  Hands-on windows restoration and masonry restoration workshops and several guided tours are all included with registration.  Registrants will have a unique opportunity to tour Doughty Hall, recently restored and owned by George and Lois Blanks, and the Dickson-Williams Mansion, an 1821 high Federal style home.  The Thursday night "Preservation Celebration and Auction" will be held at the General Morgan Inn beginning at 6:30 PM.   Planned conference session topics include:
