Preservation Open House: A Member's Only Tour of the Howard House - April 20th
A special spring member’s only tour will feature the iconic Howard House located at 2921 N. Broadway. Join us from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. to see this architectural jewel in North Knoxville. Thank you Rhoda and Dan Harb for making this event possible.
The 1910 Craftsman home is the last of many fine residential houses that once graced Broadway. It was owned for 50 years by former Knoxville City Councilman Paul Howard, who won awards for his stewardship of the property. it was altered in the 1970’s for commercial space, but the alterations were relatively kind to the existing architecture. Wood paneling was used to cover doors, windows, stained glass, and fireplaces that are still there and visible. There are surprises around every corner. This open house will allow visitors to see it before renovations begin.
