Knox Heritage requests the pleasure of your company at a New Year’s Eve Gala and Dinner at Westwood the home of John and Adelia Armstrong Lutz

In the grand tradition of the Vanderbilts’ 1883 Gilded Age Ball, one hundred guests will enjoy a lavish multi-course dinner worthy of the Gilded Age at Westwood at seven o’clock in the evening. At nine o’clock, the party will swell and progress into a sparkling tent on the grounds of Westwood. Guests will ring in the New Year with a cocktail supper, extravagant entertainment, and a midnight breakfast.

More than just a party, this event is one of the most important fundraisers in our organization’s 43 year history. The proceeds from the Gilded Age Gala will cap off Historic Westwood’s capital campaign, securing the house permanently as the Regional Center for Preservation Education.

New Year’s celebrations have been a part of Westwood since it was built in 1890. When John and Adelia Lutz moved into their new home in late 1890, they celebrated with a grand New Year’s party. The Knoxville Tribune reported on January 2, 1891: “Westwood, the beautiful suburban residence of Mrs. J.E. Lutz, Kingston Road was the scene of much real pleasure from 6 to 11 p.m. last night. It was the first “New Year’s” in this elegant new home and the occasion was one of the unusual pleasures for that reason…” Round up your fabulous friends for an unforgettable night celebrating preservation. We are going to party like it’s 1890!
