Introducing Salvage Shop University

Knox Heritage Salvage Shop is excited to introduce a new course series on salvage repurposing and upcycling, titled Salvage Shop University! The series officially kicked off in January and will reoccur once per month throughout 2019. Class topics include How to Paint and Distress Furniture, Furniture Refinishing and Staining 101, Salvage Welding, and Upcycled Decor. The University plans to include some ‘Make and Take’ courses, where students will be able to craft an item and take it home with them.

The kick-off course was on January 10th from 6:30-7:30 pm, at the Knox Heritage Salvage Shop, located at 619 N Broadway St, Knoxville, Tennessee 37917. During this course, instructor Ashley Costerisan taught attendees how to paint and distress furniture that is beyond restoration. Ashley is the small business owner of Best Nest Home, residing in the North Knoxville area.

The second workshop, ‘Furniture Refinishing 101’ will be led by furniture refinisher, Jeff Wilke, on February 21st, from 6:00-7:30.

We are planning a Make and Take course for March. Stay tuned for more details!
