Speedwell Manor has a particularly rich and interesting history. This beautiful 1842 Georgian mansion spent its first 80 years in Tazewell, 50 miles to the south. Originally known as Castle Rock, it once served as a Civil War hospital, library, and home for a family that dates back to the Revolutionary War. In the 1950s, the mansion was moved brick-by-brick and rebuilt on the foundation of the old Blow Estate farmhouse. You will be lured onto the beautifully manicured lawns, perfect for a friendly round or two of croquet. Homeowners Pat and Alex Shivers invite you to wear your whites and join them for a delightful June evening at their majestic, historic home.
