East Tennessee Preservation Alliance
Welcome to the East Tennessee Preservation Alliance (ETPA) website. ETPA is the 16-county regional partner of Knox Heritage and works to preserve the structures and places with historic or cultural significance in Middle East Tennessee (Anderson, Blount, Campbell, Claiborne, Cocke, Grainger, Jefferson, Hamblen, Knox, Loudon, Monroe, Morgan, Roane, Scott, Sevier and Union Counties). ♦ 2017 East Tennessee Endangered 8 to be announced on May 1, 2017 as part of National Preservation Month.
♦ ACTION CENTER: Support legislation to enact a state historic tax credit program for Tennessee . Reach out and educate your local leaders and legislators with these materials:
- Tennessee Historic Rehabilitation Investment Incentive Flyer. A one-pager that describes the need for a state historic rehabilitation investment incentive and the benefits that can result from enacting a state program.
- Summary of TN Historic Rehabilitation Investment Incentive. A one-pager that summarizes and explains the legislation and how the program would operate.
- Coalition Support Letters to Legislators. A draft letter to legislators that can be revised to insert the relevant legislators’ names and cities.
- Finance Members. A list of targeted Senate Finance Committee members, House Finance Committee members and House Subcommittee on Finance and Budget members. Please reach out to any and all members on the Committees, even if they are not constituents of those members.
♦ Three East Tennessee properties have been added to the National Register of Historic Places. Giffin Grammer School in Knox County, Shults Grove Methodist Church in Sevier County (Cosby), and the LaFollette Coke Ovens Site in Campbell County. Giffin is scheduled to be renovated into an assisted living facility. You can read more about Shults Grove in this Newport Plain Talk article.
